At precisely 12:00 PM Korean Standard Time on January 2, 2014, there was a downpour of Rain that I could not have been possibly prepared for. I only have three words: Rain. Is. Back.
I admit that I am still reeling from the shock of having new music from him. It came at me with such a force that I am still trying to pull myself up from the floor after being hit with two provocative MVs and his new album.
30 Sexy
When I saw the teaser for the 30 Sexy MV I was intrigued. It looked sleek and polished and sounded really good. Well, it was ALL that.
The ambiance, dancing, beat, and club-like vibe were all spot on. And Rain….always so impeccably styled, looking so tall, lean and fit was just a feast for all the senses. Yes, Rain unleashed the sexy and tossed it right in our faces with this throbbing dance track. I love his vocals in this one – a lot. He sounds as good as ever.
Really feeling that one. Really.
LA Song
Upon first view I was like…what the……??!! And then I settled in and watched the story of LA Song unfold. A van, boombox, pig hindquarters, smoky warehouse, monster chicken trucks, Gori the butcher, a cast of unique characters getting their dance on, and Rain? Ok, sure, why not?
If I didn’t already know Rain was Korean, I could have easily mistook him for an East Los Latin gangster pulling rank, swag and a whole lot of attitude as he crashes the warehouse party in his MV for LA Song. I love Rain’s never-ending exploration into themes, the resulting commentary, and the visuals he uses. I also dig his style versatility. Oh, and I especially love when he brings the badassery.
The beat is infectious, right? The dancing is hot, naturally. And I will even take Gori as the warehouse butcher who lets Rain pet the piggie (even though my vegan sensibilities were duly shocked by THAT visual)! OMO…this is just off the chain!!
One thing’s for sure….this is a pure, unadulterated party song. I dare say it would even get me up on the dance floor.
